Western Lifestyle Social Network Launches September 1, 2009

Published by under Social Networking

Cowboy Syndicate Network is slated to launch on September 1, 2009. Hosted by Cowboy Syndicate, a full service creative agency, the social network’s goals are to bring together western lifestyle enthusiasts.

Nothing is taboo: Anything about rodeo, equines, fashion and decor is fair game for members to talk about. The network will be free to anyone who registers at www.cowboysyndicate.org.

Cowboy Syndicate believes people from around the globe will enjoy membership benefits, in addition to Americans. The organization says that many, worldwide, enjoy the western lifestyle and demographics are not limited to North America.

So what’s in it for members? The Rodeo Ride Resource group offers riders and participants the ability to arrange rides to events. There is a Rodeo Parents’ group for parents of kids participating in rodeos — fodder for discussion are expenses and situations arising from this lifestyle. If you’re a woman business owner, the Cowgirl Syndicate group offers ways to network and promote your company. Lastly, everyone can meet and make new friends — including fans wanting to know more about their favorite rodeo athletes and business to business connections.

The heels are 1 1/2″ Yuma Cowboys with comfort insoles and compositions outsoles.

Collecting Antique Saddles

Published by under People to know

People collect things for various reasons. Some collect antique furniture while others are interested in glassware, ceramics  or whatnots. Still others might be interested in cars. Byron Price collects antique saddles.

It’s said that Price became interested in Western history and saddles after leaving his hometown of Lubbock for college. He ended up with a graduate degree in museum science, which fueled the fire for things to come.  For over 40 years, Price studied American saddle-making with a special interest in antique saddles and their makers.

Price advises when purchasing an antique saddle, to consider the following: History, embellishment and condition. He suggests that saddles made prior to the late 19th century are extremely rare and hard to find. Embellishment has to do with saddle decor, and condition is self-explanatory. Those in good condition are worth more than their counterparts.

So — if you want to know when saddles were first developed and who developed them, or how saddles came to North America, Byron Price is your go-to guy. While you’ve got his attention, he can also advise where to purchase the hard-to-find and rare saddles, preservation, and wonderful books to read up on the subject.
