Few men across all walks of life have been collectively mourned in death the way Tom Mix was. A symbol of the West for a time during his heyday, Tom Mix is not your regular actor –he was a hero and is still is a hero to many.
Upon his death, Tom Mix was remembered as a well-loved friend and a man who would drop anything to fight for the good. Some may think of this as an exaggeration but Tom Mix did not only bring entertainment in people’s lives but also served as an inspiration to many young Americans in his time. He was a hero and an adviser to every man or boy who went to see his films and listened to him on the radio.
Tom Mix’s advise to the younger generation was based on his down to earth type of living and a code that gives emphasis on honesty, courage, and fair play.
His life was a blast and he and his wife Victoria Ford lived their lives together to the fullest. His life, according to those who knew him, was as adventurous as any of the fictitious characters the actor portrayed in the movies.
During the Cuban campaign in the time of the Spanish-American War, Tom Mix served as a scout for Col. Theodore Roosevelt. Later on he was sent to the Philippines for the Luzon campaign. Mix also went to South Africa before returning to the United States to be a professional peace officer. Mix served as a peace officer in Oklahoma and Texas, accounts say.
Another amazing thing about the actor is that he served as a Sheriff in different parts of the West and then became a US Marshall later on.
He was offered a project in the movie industry afterwards but during the Mexican revolution in 1910, Tom Mix dropped everything. He went back to moviemaking of course and became one of America’s most loved entertainers.

Cowboy boots are sexy but cowboys are sexier, don’t you agree? They are always sexy both in their cowboy hats or their cowboy boots but mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the sexiest cowboy of them all? You decide.

Imagine this cowboy riding with his top down, or his top off rather. If that isn’t hot, what is?

Well we all know that cowboys are friendly with the horses in a horse whisperer kind of way but they sure are friendly with the ladies. Cowboys are real gentlemen really and are oh-so-dreamy.

Alright, here’s another cowboy with his top off. Cowboys don’t need to take their tops off to look sexy really but if it’s hot out, why stop them?
What do cowboys do after a good lunch? Chew on hay maybe but whether they chew on hay or smoke a cigarette, it still looks very sexy. We do not mean to put photos with cowboys with their tops off but really ladies, these photos look super awesome. Now it makes me want to go to Boot City and buy a new pair of cowboy boots.
Now this one is for the ladies who focus on the face and the cowboy hat! A nice felt hat made from pure beaver fur is a wonderful addition to every cowboy’s wardrobe. A cute, boyish face is also a wonderful thing (sorry, can’t help it). For the ladies who would like to buy a cowboy hat, getting a Stetson is always the best choice. There are other hats one can take a look at though and some are also of great quality. A Stetson Malibu or a Stetson Durango are fine choices for a cowboy hat, so what are you waiting for? Search for cowboy hats now and get your hands on one if you do not have one yet.

The American silent film entertainer William S. Hart may not be today’s Orlando Bloom, Gerard Butler or Brad Pitt but he is definitely someone a lot of people looked up to during his heyday.
William S. Hart is not just a film actor though but now also a name for a ranch and museum and one high school –an indication that William S. Hart is well-remembered even in this era where silent films are no longer in existence.
Deemed as a storybook hero and the original on-screen cowboy, Hart may be remembered by many as a villain in most of his films but he will always be remembered by his contemporaries as “ever forthright and honest”.
The 6’2” Hart’s first film His Hour of Manhood released in 1914 was a two-reeler. The next year, he signed another contract and joined Triangle Film Company.
During his retirement, Hart was disturbed by the sound of a plane that kept flying over his house. The plane was owned by Amelia Earhart. For him to complain about the noise that Earhart’s plane makes, he invited the lady to dinner. The two later on became very good friends.
Before his retirement, William S. Hart also went into producing movies and directing them.
One of his most memorable films is Tumbleweeds released in 1925. His career as a film star started with him on a New York stage. However, one has to note that his passion for the American West did not start in his boyhood but when he was already a young man traveling to the West. This is as much a good story as any of his films shown in cinema in those days.
What is most interesting about Hart is that he was ahead of his time and developed a deep respect for the native American culture.

We have mentioned before that cowboys and cowboy boots are an integral part of our culture –American cultural consciousness to be exact. In fact, while other nationalities say that America has no legitimate tradition since it is a melting pot, the most legitimate of traditions that one can have in this country is the cowboy culture. When we say cowboy culture, we do not only talk about cowboy boots or cowboy hats or cowboy fashion in general, we are also talking about the life of a cowboy or a cowgirl for that matter. The American cultural consciousness is not just felt in America though because in other countries such as the Philippines and Japan, there are western wear stores and even cowboy-themed restaurants. This is an indicator that this is what America is all about even though a great number of the population are not cowboys and do not wear cowboy boots.
Thanks to Hollywood, we were able to make this distinctly American tradition into something very popular. Decades ago, it would be weird to see an Asian donning a cowboy hat or wearing cowboy boots but today, cowboy couture is no longer just for the West but also for the fashion forward or the ones who want to stand out in a crowd.
The world’s fascination with spurs, lassos and cowboy hats and even six-shooters (and of course the Wild West) started when Western films became popular. In fact, a German guy I know remembers watching cowboy movies when he was a kid back in the 80s. Another indicator of its popularity and it being integrated in the American psyche is Hollywood making cowboy movies a separate genre altogether.
Alright, we admit that the movie industry casting charismatic actors made a difference too but actors such as Roy Rogers and Gene Autry became more popular during their heyday because of their cowboy movies.

Ever heard of cowboy couture? Also known as the quintessential western look, cowboy couture when done right is a good mix of cowboy attitude and great accessories. Although fashion experts would say that you should find a style that suits you best, if you are in love with cowboy couture, it is not so hard to incorporate cowboy fashion into your wardrobe.
Sure you have heard of the many ways of incorporating or integrating those wonderful leather cowboy boots into your daily outfits but we looked for the nicest photos we can find under cowboy couture to give you an idea on how to give your cowboy boots a new twist.
Here are a few ideas:

Alright this might be a good idea if you are going to a costume party but if you are going to one, you might as well be a cowboy or a cowgirl. Call us biased but cowboy fashion is an important part of the US’s cultural consciousness. If you were something like what the couple in the picture are wearing, people would think that your horse might be tied to a post somewhere around the bend.

If you want to go avant garde about it, you might as well mix and match some of your cowboy stuff and look astonishingly hot! This is not only a good outfit for the runway ladies but will do well in the big city as well just as long as you make sure you carry the clothes well. It’s all about how you strut it really.

If you are very fashion forward, then this photo might inspire you. We say way to go to cattle raisers! They sure look nice! If you want to use your cowboy boots on a daily basis, pairing it with a nice skirt would surely look nice. The cowboys should wear pants though, just had to say.

There is something about cowboy hats that make them oh-so-sexy and nope, not just on men but on women too especially when worn at the beach with a nice bikini. If you love cowboy hats as much as we do, you probably like looking at them too. Here are a few good movies where one can ogle cowboy hats.
Brokeback Mountain. Sure it’s not for everyone but those hats they wear sure are sexy! And being a gay cowboy has never been sexier in any movie.
The Assassination of Jesse James. An outlaw is already sexy enough, place Brad Pitt as the outlaw is way too sexy considering that he has to wear a black cowboy hat made from the finest materials. We must admit though that the coward Robert Ford also looked quite nice in this movie with his not-so-dark cowboy hat but nothing really compares to the bad boy who is also a cowboy. I bet the ladies are thinking “Yum” right now.
Those John Wayne Movies. We will not enumerate all of them. John Wayne is an icon and as an icon he is known for his cowboy get up. Believe you me, during John Wayne’s heyday, he was so popular that immigrants thought John Wayne is the President of the United States of America. Now that would have been cool right? His cowboy boots and cowboy hats are by far much cooler though. If you would like to watch cowboy movies with John Wayne in it and see how dreamy he looked, you can search online for John Wayne cowboy movies.
Those Clint Eastwood Movies. Yep, the director/actor or actor/director however you prefer it is one hell of a cowboy because he makes cowboyhood if there is such a word look real good. If that is not amazing enough, Clint Eastwood also made a lot of ladies swoon because of his characters in the movies.

The popularity of cowboy movies is undeniable and because of this popularity, the cowboy culture has become quite an influence in terms of fashion. The most important thing about cowboy culture isn’t just the hat but the cowboy boots. According to an article published by the Los Angeles Daily News, stamps honoring cowboy legends such as Gene Autry, Tom Mix, William S. Hart and Roy Rogers is proof enough how much we care about cowboy culture and of course, how much we care about cowboy boots. No one has confirmed though if Mix, Hart, Rogers or Autry ever wore Justin boots –cowboy boots rather popular at the time.
Although we know that the cowboy movie legend Tom Mix died in his cowboy boots and his diamond studded belt buckle, no one has confirmed what brand he wore. Whichever the case, many are interested in what cowboys from long ago wore. One thing is for sure though, the cowboy boots they wore are most definitely sturdy.

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon. The whole family had lunch together right after church and later as my father sat on the couch to watch some TV, he realized that we forgot to buy me new shoes for school. It was a happy day for me especially when he said I needed new shoes so my sister and I hopped to his car while waiting for mom to get in.
Back in the early 90s when I was about seven years old, our town did not have a mall just yet. All we had was an old bazaar people bought shoes and apparel. When we got there I immediately smelled leather with all the leather shoes and goods on display. Much like every other kid, I ran around the bazaar with my sister right behind me. My mom told us to keep quiet though and said that we should go pick black shoes for school. I didn’t ask why it had to be black because as a child, I probably wanted something cooler than black –you know, something red maybe or green just to shock my peers? But anyway since she said we should pick out something black we went on to look at black shoes for girls. A pair of black cowboy boots with white ribbon embellishments caught my eye though so I slowly moved near it. When my mother saw me doing that she said, “Sigrid, no.” Like any child would, I protested and told her it is black and it’s leather and I want it. My dad smiled at my mother and said it’s okay for me to wear cowboy boots. My mother protested because we had to wear uniforms to school and that pair of cowboy boots would definitely not look good with it. I ended up getting the cowboy boots and it lasted me 2 years until I could no longer fit my feet in them. Realizing that they were quite sturdy, my mom started buying me and my sister cowboy boots. Now that I am working, I still wear cowboy boots whenever I feel like it even if I live in a big city.
