Cowboy boots date back to the time of Genghis Khan but in America, cowboy boots started in the early 1600s. The first pair of western boots had high tops, were pointy-toed, and were well heeled i.e. up to 2 inches in height giving the cowboy a boost. Through the years, different designs were introduced in the market depending on what the cowboy boots were used for. Riding boots were invented but other than that, boots were also made for the military and some for the aristocracy. It wasn’t until the 1880s however that the cowboy boots we know today got its distinctive style.

Styles have evolved though and today, various styles and colors have been introduced giving the bootmaking market more space for creativity. Although there are many different styles of cowboy boots, an expert will still be able to tell which region a certain pair of boots comes from basing of course on its style.

If you are thinking of buying new cowboy boots, you may refer to the list below:

Sheplers –the company offers a huge selection of cowboy boots and this includes boots for all ages. One can visit Sheplers.com to take a look at the selection of boots offered.

Cowtown Boots – this is a bootmaking company based in Texas and is one of the leading retailers in the west. Cowtown offers Acme, Dingo and Dan Post boots as well as a range of other cowboy boots made from exotic leather.

Langstons – this company established in 1913 is a western wear retailer known for its wide selection of cowboy boots. They have a store in Oklahoma and also has a website.

Justin Boots –Justin is a venerable brand now owned by the Berkshire Hathaway company. It has been producing sturdy and comfortable boots since 1879.

There are other cowboy boot brands of course and this includes Tony Lama, Lucchese, L.M. Easterling, Olathe Boot among others.

Matching your kids’ western wear with their boots can be a bit difficult if you do not know what would look good on your child or children. Thankfully however, there are general rules on this one.

Take a look at this list:

Match your child’s boots with trendy clothes. This is something that many parents want to do because cowboy boots look real good on children.

Be prepared to buy a pair of cowboy boots that have a large image of a cartoon character on it. If your child loves a certain cartoon character, chances are, he or she will get a pair of cowboy boots that have this character. Just take a look at the color and then look for clothes that will fit with this color.

Check out the size of your child’s feet and make sure that the boots you buy are the right size for him or her. Size matters and if you really want your kid to look trendy, he or she can’t be uncomfortable with the new pair of boots. According to experts, getting a pair of cowboy boots that is half-size larger than your child’s size is advisable.

Cleaning your children’s cowboy boots is the same as cleaning yours but be sure to clean them after every use since children tend to step on the dirtiest of things. Although the boots you bought for your children are sturdy and are made to last for a very long time, it is better to take good care of the boots still.

Proper care all goes down to proper and frequent cleaning. Apart from that you would also need to polish and protect the boots. If it rains frequently in your area and your children just love to wear their cowboy boots, it would be best to waterproof their boots. Waterproofing children’s cowboy boots is the same as waterproofing adult boots. We have shown how to waterproof cowboy boots and if you haven’t read it already you can take a look at how to waterproof those boots right on this website.

If you want to get cheap or discount cowboy boots for your kids, you would have to buy them before summer when most cowboy boot stores are doing clearance sales. Buying cowboy boots this time of the year means you would save more money and you might even be able to buy one for yourself.

But where are you going to buy kids’ cowboy boots? Going to department stores is one good place to buy boots. You can find different brands, styles, and colors of cowboy boots in the kids’ section. If you do not feel like walking around in the mall, you can let your fingers do the shopping for you by going to an online store. There are lots of online shops that sell shoes for kids, just key in “cowboy boots for kids” on your favorite search engine and your browser will direct you to the right place. The only downside with online shopping is, you will not be able to see if the boots you’ve chosen for your kids fit them perfectly.

Do you have a little cowgirl or cowboy at home? Whether it’s your child or you who’s into wild West fashion, there’s no doubting children’s cowboy boots will prove to be a versatile addition to your little one’s closet. Children’s cowboy boots come in all sizes, styles, and colors. But how do you make sure the boots you take to the register fit those little feet perfectly?

Below are some tips for buying children’s cowboy boots.

1. Go boot-shopping in the afternoon! During mornings, your child’s feet will be at its smallest and thinnest while during the latter part of the day, your child’s feet will have swelled a bit from all that running and playing. If your child tries on boots in the morning, the shoes may end up too tight. If your child tries on boots in the evening, the pair may end up too lose. Do your boot-buying in the afternoon.

2. Measure, measure, measure! Ask the store for a measuring device. Take note of your child’s foot size and foot shape. Some boots have a square toe while others have a pointy toe. Make room for toe shape in your measurement.

3. Try before you buy! The best way to test a shoe’s fit is, naturally, to wear it. Let your child try on a pair. Roll up the pant leg all the way to the knees, and help your child pull on the boots. Then, ask your child to stand and wiggle his toes. If he can do some toe wiggling while he walks, and if the seams are snug while the boot legs stay a little loose, snap that pair up right off. They’re perfect for your little one.

Buying children’s cowboy boots can be quite tricky because the last thing you want to do is waste money on a pair your child can’t wear for long. But with these tips to help you along, there’s no way you can get the boot-buying wrong!
