Tony Lama Ladies Cowhide Vaquero Cowboy Boot in Black Vail And Fads

Published by Sigrid under Boot City, Cowboy Boots

For many fashion enthusiasts, trying out fads and watching these fads take hold longer than expected, is quite fun. In fact, it may even fun to figure out how they have stayed on so long. Most fads fade as fast as they entered the market but others just stay on –even for centuries. A pair of cowboy boots is a good example of a fad that started with a small community of cowboys probably somewhere in Spain or in Latin America.

According to NY Times writer Carrie Donovan in an article she wrote about cowboy boots in the early 90s, women have worn these types of shoes for some time. She admitted that it is definitely difficult to miss the increasing popularity of cowboy boots. One has to keep in mind that the said NY Times article was written in the 90s and it’s already 2012 and cowboy boots are still very much popular among men and women alike. Kids even wear them so this makes them universal in a way and it’s not just the west that loves these boots –lots of men and women from allover the world wear these boots.

Come to think of it, women have been wearing cowboy boots for some time –from the classic designs to uber sexy thigh high ones. Other popular styles include midcalf high boots or ones that are chopped off right at the ankles also known as ankle boots.

If you are thinking of buying a pair of cowboy boots, you should take a look at boots at Boot City.

One of our favorites from Boot City is this Tony Lama Ladies Cowhide Vaquero Cowboy Boot in Black Vail. If you buy it today, you will save $10 from your purchase. The underslung heels are 1 and ¾ inch high.

Cowboy boots today, loafers tomorrow?

Published by Sigrid under Boot City, Cowboy Boots

Cowboys won’t be caught dead in loafers but some do wear them. However, it is interesting to note that preppies and yuppies won’t wear cowboy boots on a daily basis especially in a city where cowboy boots are nothing but a fad. A fad you say? Yes. Apparently, in some cities, cowboy boots are not really deemed as appropriate for daily wear especially if you are in the corporate world. This is sad but hey, those who can’t wear cowboy boots everyday can always take a look at these beautiful cowboy boots from Boot City or from any other store online that carry cowboy boots. You must make sure though that the place you will be buying your boots from are reputable online stores.

Croc Embossed Brown Western Handbag And More

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots, Cowgirl Fashion

We probably have heard this from our mothers before –your shoes must match your bag, this is the rule. I have always followed that rule and to this day, I cannot go out if my shoes do not match my bag. Some may call it an expensive rule but your shoes or your handbags do not need to be expensive at all.

Brown leather cowboy boots always go well with a brown leather handbag of the same shade. Boring? No not really. Being monochromatic will give you a classier look but enough of the fashion advice, let’s take a look at the trendiest bags I found online.

Croc Embossed Brown Western Handbag

This is a crocodile embossed handbag made from faux leather making it a very animal-friendly choice for animal activists. Since it’s a tote, this handbag is quite roomy but what I really love about it is that it is very stylish and looks almost like real crocodile leather.

It is available at Western Handbag Store for $59.99.

Croc Embossed White Western Handbag

This is another version of the tote above. It is also made from top quality faux leather and features enough room for all your personal items. If you always need to bring one of those big planners you write on, this is a good bag to have. You would no longer have to carry your planner around with your hand with fear of losing it if you have this bag.

Pink Croc Star Cowgirl West Western Handbag

For those looking for a rather cool looking bag that doesn’t scream seriousness, this beautiful pink bag made from genuine leather is a good choice. Sold for less than $50, getting this leather bag for yourself or for someone is definitely a good bargain. It features a shoulder strap as well as crystal embellishments too!

What You Should Consider When Buying Cowboy Boots

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

The art of bootmaking is an old form of art. It is highly valued by both cowboy boot enthusiasts and bootmakers because of the intricacy of the designs and the time spent in making them. If you are looking for custom cowboy boots, you should ensure that you will be getting the best kinds of leather coupled with skillful construction techniques to make it worth the money.

Although you already have a good idea on what a bootmaker does or how popular he or she is in the realm of bootmaking, you should still take an objective look of the finished products. Whatever others say, at the end of the day, it’s what you think that matters. You should ask yourself whether you really like the boots or not. Do they appeal to you? Do you think they are worth the money? You should look closely at the boots and ask yourself whether you really like what you see or you are just being influenced by the brand of the item.

According to marketing experts, if you are going to buy a certain brand because it is popular, you will only be paying for the advertising and not because it is a quality product although of course it could be both.

What should you take into consideration when buying cowboy boots? Aside from comfort, you should take a look at how the boots fit you because if they do not fit, you won’t be able to use them. For those who are new at buying cowboy boots, you should keep in mind that they will feel different from other types of shoes. The fit would be different because it will envelope your feet. The important thing is, you should be comfortable and even if cowboy boots look a little snug on the toes, this shouldn’t be the case.

Cowboy Boots And Getting The Right Fit

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

Cowboy boots are not your usual shoes, they feel different when worn. If you are used to wearing sneakers or loafers, wearing cowboy boots can be a big change for you. Cowboy boots have arch support and usually feel snug on the wearer’s instep keeping the boots in place. If you are not used to wearing cowboy boots, it would be best to get one that fits you well and one that allows you to walk naturally. If you really do not feel comfortable wearing cowboy boots, you can start wearing ropers. These should give you a more familiar feel since roper boots are more like regular shoes.

Ropers have a full round toe which makes it more comfortable for those who are used to wearing loafers or sneakers. The size of your boots especially when you are planning to get classic cowboy boots will not deviate too far from your regular size. However, some cowboy boot enthusiasts say that it is better to get boots that are one size larger than your regular size to make room for your toes since cowboy boots are usually pointy-toed.

If you are getting custom cowboy boots however you do not have to worry about your measurements because your bootmaker will find this out for you. If you are choosing boots off the rack though you should always get a looser pair rather than one that is too tight. This will give you room for movement and you won’t be able to walk if your cowboy boots are too tight. With loose cowboy boots, you can always wear thick socks or add a few inserts to get the right size. Did you already purchase cowboy boots but they do not fit? You should call the store and exchange it for the right size –they will entertain your concerns.

Boots: How To Wear Them

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots, Cowgirl Fashion

Shoes are important for every girl and whether you are talking about cowboy boots or regular shoes, these are things that women go gaga for. Boots, according to fashion experts, are probably the most fashionable shoes one can find but if you are not sure how to wear them, here are a few things you should keep in mind:

Above The Knee

Boots above the knee are a staple in the world of fashion but if you are worried about looking trashy, you should pair them with skinny jeans, mini dresses, shorts or leggings.

You should also stick with boots that are made from either leather or suede, getting over the knee or thigh high boots not made from these materials will only make you look trashy –a look that every girl should avoid.

Cowboy Boots

This classic riding boot is hot stuff. It is preferred by a number of celebrities and will definitely stay as one of the hottest boots for the year and the years to come.

Getting a good pair of cowboy boots at real affordable prices is possible even if you get a pair made from exotic skins. Shopping for cowboy boots at Boot City is a good idea.

Boots With Low Heels

If you value comfort more than anything else, you will definitely love low-heeled cowboy boots. You can always pair these boots with jeans, a nice dress or a skirt. These will also make walking more comfortable.

Fur Collars On Boots

These are very nice boots and they will protect your feet from the cold. There are a number of boots like these being sold in the market and they range from having real fur to those that have faux fur. These fur collars on boots are great both for winter and spring.

Don’t have boots yet? You can always go to Boot City to get a pair of classic cowboy boots.

Tony Lama Men’s Full Quill Ostrich Cowboy Boot in Black And Ostrich Leather

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

When it comes to style and comfort, there is no match for a good pair of cowboy boots made from ostrich leather. When skillfully constructed, these boots will last a lifetime without you have to fuss over them. A great thing about this type of leather is that you do not have to take care of it as much as one would for other exotic leathers.

Cowboy boots made from ostrich leather come in a range of styles and colors and since ostrich leather is quite expensive, not many people have them. This pliable leather is also tough making it more valuable than other exotic leather used in making cowboy boots.

Experts say that the full quill area of ostrich leather is the most coveted and most expensive part. And since this part has the distinct markings of the ostrich it is more valued than the semi quill cowboy boots or cowboy boots that are made from smooth ostrich. The ostrich is known for its markings and this is what cowboy boots enthusiasts usually look for. Its toughness is also one of the reasons why bootmakers love ostrich skin –they last for a very long time and can protect the wearer’s feet from the elements way better than other skins. Other exotic skins fair well too but ostrich leather is the best. Since it is the best, ostrich leather is associated with opulence.  At the age of fourteen months, ostriches produce over 10 square feet of hide. There are two types of products from the ostrich –ostrich dress and the brushed off one. The latter is shinier while the former displays the markings of the bird.

Custom Cowboy Boots: Expensive Cowboy Boots And Comfort

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

Are you planning to buy a pair of custom cowboy boots? If you are then you should be ready to spend a small fortune because you won’t be buying cowboy boots that are manufactured or what cowboy boot snubs might call “off the rack”. The question is, what is the fair price for a good pair of custom-made boots?

Miguel Jones from Jones Boots says that there are bootmakers that give fair prices for their boots. The reality when it comes to custom cowboy boots is that the prices are based on how much the customer is willing to pay leading everyone to believe that the more expensive the item, the more value it has. This may be true in some circles but if you are really bent on getting a custom pair of cowboy boots because you just love cowboy boots but do not have the money to pay for an incredulous price, there are craftsmen out there who will be willing to work with your budget. The trick is to find the right bootmaker.

It’s great to go to a celebrated bootmaker –this adds some pizzazz to your custom cowboy boots but you can also try to go to relatively unknown bootmakers that have as much talent as the popular ones.

There are a number of things you should also take into consideration –this includes the leather available for making the boots, the styles available i.e. the heel height, the shaft height, etc but the number one thing you should keep in mind is comfort and how the boots fit you.

Wherever you plan to get your custom cowboy boots, it is always best to put comfort as your number one priority. When one comes to think of it, if this is your number one priority, it does not matter who made those boots.

Lee Miller And Why You Should Buy Custom Cowboy Boots

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

It was over 35 years ago when Lee Miller apprenticed under Charlie Dunn, a celebrated boot maker. Even if Miller is a Yankee, Dunn told him once that he won’t take that against him. Today, 57-year-old Miller is a legend himself and has made beautifully decorated boots for the likes of Tommy Lee Jones.

With the workload he has, Miller has a four-year waitlist and according to sources, he is currently not accepting new clients. If you would like to get custom cowboy boots from Lee Miller however, you should still take your chances but be sure to have at least $2000 in your pocket. Each pair takes around 40 hours to be finished.

Millers clients hail from different parts of the globe but they all go through the same thing –they sit on a big chair in Miller’s place of business for the boot maker to take the measurements.

What is interesting about Miller’s workshop is that he has equipment that are older than him. His side-seam stitcher for example dates back to the 1910s.

In a digitalized world, Miller’s workshop seems to have been frozen in time. Everything is handmade even if he can choose to use machines to make the work easier. In one interview, Miller mentioned that he just chose not to automate some of the processes in boot making because no machine can do a better work than a human hand.

Buying Custom Made Cowboy Boots

It is common knowledge that buying custom cowboy boots is expensive and it is only those who can spend a small fortune who will be able to afford such boots. If you are really into cowboy boots though, getting a custom cowboy boots is a good investment –at least for your feet and your sense of style. Getting custom cowboy boots is a special thing because these are handmade and they take time to make.

Cowboy Boots, Work Boots, High Heeled Boots, Uggs

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

Finding the right cowboy boots is not an easy feat but if you already found the right style for you, it would no longer be that difficult to choose which pair of cowboy boots to buy. At Boot City, there is a selection of cowboy boots for you to choose from –they range from ropers, work boots, to classic cowboy boots.

Although it is common knowledge that work boots are made from hazardous environments, there are some individuals who use work boots as a fashion statement –no longer for the purposes they were created for. And who wouldn’t really? They sure look uber cool!

While others are into traditional cowboy boots, and work boots there are those who deviate from the classics and get knee high boots with high heels. Knee high boots are very sexy. In fact, if you want instant sex appeal, these are the boots to have. Do not get me wrong though, classic cowboy boots are also very sexy but for women who need a little boost, high heeled boots are a good option.

Those who are into the more casual and comfortable on the other hand buy uggs. Cowboy boots are comfortable too but if you want slipper-like comfort and footwear that will keep your feet warm, uggs are great. There are a number of ugg makers out there that sell uggs at real affordable rates.

Uggs are considered unfashionable in certain places i.e. Australia and New Zealand since they are used as slippers but in 2011, a number of Hollywood stars got their photos taken by the paparazzi while wearing outerwear inappropriate for uggs. One actress actually wore her uggs with her bikini but how is that different from wearing straw cowboy hats with your bikini ala Denise Richards? Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder they say so you decide.
