Okay this one could have been taken on the streets of Texas since this is Jessica Simpson donning a trendy cowboy hat. Too bad we cannot see the boots from this angle!

Who said red cowboy boots are not in style anymore? This rather sizzling photo of three cowgirls makes the red cowboy boots the photo’s focal point -a great focal point if I may say.

Cowboy Boots: The Trend

Published by under Cowgirl Fashion

From rehearsals to live performances, family holidays to parties in Hollywood, and premiere nights to charity events, we’ve seen actresses, socialites, singers and fashion mavericks strut them around; and if it is still not obvious by now then let’s make it official: take your cowboy boots out of the closet, ladies and gentlemen, because they are today’s fashion frenzy, where they rightfully belong. Divas like Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys are wearing it to their film shootings and promotional gigs; pop starlets like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift are parading them like mad. Country idol Carrie Underwood is of course wearing them. And yeah, Christie Brinkley is wearing them too, but it’s in a Wild Wild West Carnival at a ranch; everybody was wearing them then and there as well, so no biggie. But if fashion mavericks like Nicole Richie wear them constantly because they are cool,  then by God, they totally are.

Some of these photos may be a year old but they can still be a reference point for those planning to wear cowboy boots this year!

Cowboy Boots Faux Pas

When wearing cowboy boots, it is best to keep things simple to draw more attention on your boots. Do not go out wearing a cowboy theme unless you are a cowboy (of course).  Many girls make the mistake of wearing a cowboy theme that it feels like you are staring Daisy Dukes in the flesh. Not that she is not beautiful, it is just that the super short camper shorts and the checkered top and cowboy hat may be a little bit too much. This kind of outfit should be worn with caution especially to those living in the city because wearing something like this is not actually trendy. Try pairing your cowboy boots with a nice flowing dress and you will do just fine.

Another advice is to never wear your cowboy boots with a loud outfit. As mentioned a while ago, keeping it simple is the key.

If you have cowboy boots in pastel colors, do not wear them this season. They are so 80s so leave them in your closet and wear them when they are hip and trendy again.

Designing Your Own Cowboy Boots

Designing your own pair of cowboy boots is a good idea if you want a pair that is yours alone. The first step in doing this is to locate a good boot maker. There are established ones that make custom cowboy boots so basically; you won’t run out of options. Take a look at the boot maker’s portfolio and see if you like how the boots came out. You should pay attention to his or her inlay technique and the stitching pattern. If the technique passes your standards then go ahead and start designing your own pair of cowboy boots. You will need the guidance of the boot maker in measuring your feet. Call first before going to the shop so that the boot maker will make time for you. This is a critical part of the custom cowboy boot-making process because if you do not get the right feet measurement, the boots will not come out right and won’t fit your feet.

Choose a style from the maker’s portfolio. If you have a different style in mind, do not forget to bring a photo of it. If you can draw, it is best to bring a drawing of your design to the boot maker. After that you should choose which leather to use for your boots and which colors should be used for the threads. You should also determine the angle and widths of the heels, the pattern on the toes, etc.

When done, the boot maker will give you his or her drawing of your design. Once you have approved it, he or she will start making it immediately.

Fashion Faux Pas When Wearing Cowboy Boots

Published by under Cowboy Boots, Cowgirl Fashion

The real debacle when wearing cowboy boots is about how they could look a fashionable rather than something someone would call a fashion faux pas. And so, without further ado, here are a few tips to remember in wearing these boots, and avoiding fashion mishaps.

  • Boots aren’t cool in the heat of summer. You’re in a tropic country, with the sun at its peak glaring at you, and you notice a beautiful woman wearing a great ensemble from head to- uh oh.  There aren’t many summer day outfits that can go well with cowboy boots, so do yourself and the fashion police a favor: put those shoes back in the closet and make sure they stay there until nightfall, when it’s socially acceptable to party in them for as long as you desire.
  • Cowboy boots aren’t just for cowgirls. News flash: they go perfectly well with skinny jeans, tights and some dresses, and have been so since the fall of 2009. These boots were made for walking indeed, but not just in ranches or rodeos.
  • Unless they are slouchy, boots should always fit at the calf. Fashion is about the right blend of style and comfort, so don’t hurt yourself in the name of beauty. The deciding factor for cowgirl boots is space, and the rule of thumb is: if the fit is just right – not too loose or too tight – the boots won’t see the daylight.

How to Wear Knee-High Cowboy Boots

Published by under Cowgirl Fashion

No doubt about it: Knee-high cowgirl boots are sexy and flattering. They make your legs look slimmer and your behind fuller, and women who wear them suddenly give off this tantric aura that just triggers sexual hormones from a mile away. Plus they can be worn anywhere, from the house to the office and then straight to the parties. It’ll always be in style because, in a word, it’s HOT. Just one tiny little problem: looking good in them is tricky. Not every outfit can match these shoes and not everyone can manage to wear them without looking like a tart. So, how DO you wear these pretty little things?

Here are a few basic pointers with knee-high cowgirl boots:

  • Make sure that they fit snugly at the calf. The whole point of wearing these babies is to make you feel more confident about yourself, so be sure your boots fit comfortably. Nothing is worse than knee-high boots that have space at the ankles – that is just plain wrong.
  • Check the mirror. It doesn’t matter if you copied the exact same outfit from the pages of a fashion magazine; if you don’t look at yourself and feel good about it then save yourself from trying to pull off the “look” and just pull off the boots instead. Looking sexy is all about feeling more comfortable with yourself, not pretending to be someone you’re not.
  • Have fun. It’s about what you want to wear, not what they say you should be wearing, so loosen up and ride into the sunset – but not just in a cowgirl suit. Get creative, mix and match outfits, and you’ll discover a new “you” in no time.

If you love to wear over the knee boots with your dresses, skinny jeans or leggings, you are lucky because not many women would like to risk it because they are worried they won’t pull it off. Here is a piece of advise about knee-high boots, you do not have to tall and skinny to wear knee-high boots, all you have to do is find the right outfight.

Get Dressy

Your dress should be short or about 3 inches above the knee. This is for shorter women, those who are tall can wear a dress that is an inch above the knee.

Matching your Tights

You should match your tights to your boots especially for knee high ones, this would make you look taller and skinnier. Remember however that being too skinny is not good so for teens out there, it is alright to have a fuller body thank a skinny one. With these boots however, you only need tights that will make you look taller to go with the whole ensemble.

Avoid Visual Breaks

You should make sure that your tights do not end in the biggest part of your thighs, this will make you look short.

Avoid Looking Tacky

Looking tacky is not what you want. You should use wedged knee-high boots to avoid this. Do not buy knee-high boots with stilettos.

Wear Skinnies

Use skinny jeans and tuck it in your boots. This is a casual look you use everyday.
