Cowboys in the United States may dance the square dance during their free time when there weren’t any other type of entertainment just yet while the gauchos of Argentina danced with one of their weapons –the boleadoras. These weapons were made out of leather and were composed of three balls attached to a rope. According to accounts, three or more gauchos would bounce their weapons in a circular manner hitting the floor following the beat of the bombo drum.

The zapateo which means tap dance of the gauchos is also incorporated in the boleadoras dance. Like the usual tap dance, gauchos clap their hands too based on the tempo of the music while continuing with the bouncing of the boleaderos and at high speed as well! It is a rather spectacular treat when one watches it making these cowboys look more amazing than when they are riding their horses. The dance itself is called the malambo.

The square dance on the other hand is a tamer type of dance that involves eight people i.e. four couples composing one square. The dance itself can be composed of as many squares as needed. Each square is independent from other squares unless of course the dancers decide to do crossover of participants from one square to the next. In Chile, the Chilean cowboys dance the cueca. This traditional Chilean cowboy dance is still very much alive today. This dance however is also associated with dances that of Bolivia, Argentina and Peru. One has to note though that the said dance holds a national status in Chile. The dance in itself is not for Chilean cowboys alone but since there were a lot of cowboys in Chile for a time, this mix of Spanish and African moves became quite a hit. The dance was passed on to other Latin American nations such as Bolivia where the dance evolved too through time.

Boss of the Plains is a phrase we all know so well. The type of cowboy hat manufactured by Stetson is a flat-brimmed headgear that features a straight crown. It also had round corners. According to historical accounts, Boss of the Plains was manufactured in 1865 and became quite a hit among cowboys despite the popularity of the bowler’s hat during those times.

Because of its lightness and its natural color, the hat with a four-inch crown gradually became the standard hat in the west. Since Stetsons are made from felt, they are also waterproof making it possible for the owner of the hat to use it like a pail.

It also had a plain hatband making it possible for the user of the hat to adjust the size. The sweatband, according to historical accounts, bore the name of Stetson. While Stetson only made one style of hat, Stetsons came in different qualities depending on the materials used for the hat. Regular hats with one-grade material were sold at $5 a piece while those that boasted pure beaver felt were sold at $30 at the time.

Although the bowler’s hat was quite popular in that era, J.B. Stetson marketed the Boss of the Plains and later on, the cowboy hat we fondly call the Stetson became an icon and a universal image of the West. This somehow built a reputation for the West, with its charisma and its taste for adventure. During the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century, hats were needed by every man. In fact, it was an indispensable item. This is where Stetson got the idea of focusing on making high quality and expensive hats since hats were considered as an investment for every working cowboy and a fashion statement for men who lived in the city.

Attention ladies! This one’s for you. If you love cowboy boots and love Lucchese, you will surely fall in love with the Charlie 1 Horse collection specifically the fashion boots items from the brand.

One of our favorites for this season is this beautiful stiletto boots in black made from calf leather. It has a height of 13” and very nice stiletto heels.

If you want something in scarlet however, this uber beautiful stiletto boots from Lucchese is something you should take a look at. The item number for this one is l4681 and it is definitely one of the best designs coming from the Charlie 1 Horse collection.

The first two boots featured in this article are great for either casual or formal fashion. If you have a rather strict workplace that requires you to wear formal work clothes, you can wear these under your trousers. If you are looking for something more rugged however, there are quite a few Charlie 1 Horse boots in Lucchese’s online catalog that you might want to take a look at.

If you want to know more about your ropers, you may want to take a look at the history of riding boots. Being a big part of equestrian life, riding boots have been around for centuries and up until the industrial age, riding boots and classic boots for that matter were individually handmade. They were of course in many other styles apart from the 2 styles of boots we know of today. Early cowboy boots, according to history, along with their accoutrements, were influenced by the Spanish vaquero that dates back to the early part of the 16th century. Another influence of riding boots includes military boots used by the cavalries.

The vaquero or its Portuguese counterpart the vaqueiro is a livestock herder mounted on a horse. This tradition goes back to the Iberian peninsula. One has to take into consideration however that the vaquero tradition also developed in Mexico being a Spanish colony. The Spanish and Mexican vaquero proved to be quite an influence in the Old West.

According to history, cattle herders from Mexico traveling with Jesuit priest Eusebio Kino in the year 1687 travelled to California, bringing with them the vaquero tradition.

More expeditions were done, another one in 1769 and then in 1774. The latter is called the Juan de Anza expedition. The men who joined the expedition became the first ever cowboys in the area. Today, the vaquero tradition is also known as a Texas tradition. Another term that is associated with this tradition is the buckaroo which according to history is considered a corruption of the vaquero.

When the vaqueros have already influenced the people in the region with their cattle herding tradition, riding boots were used by most men in the area. During the industrial revolution, riding boots were already mass produced. Further developments were done years before of course and by that time, mass produced boots were already called Wellingtons.

For those who love to ride, you may need to take a look at boots that fall under the English riding category. These boots are of course very English for a lack of better term but it pays to know how boots in general have evolved from one country to the other.

There are a number of riding boot designs and these boots look different depending on what they are intended for i.e. whether it is for pleasure riding or for horse shows.

Field Boots. These boots have lacing on the ankle part allowing the rider some flexibility. These boots are preferred for all jumping disciplines such as show jumping, eventing, hunt seat equitation and fox hunting.

Dress Boots. These boots do not feature any type of lacing. They are stiffer than regular riding boots and are usually used by dress riders, those on a fox hunt and eventers. Sometimes these boots are also used by show jumpers.

Paddocks. Also known to some as Jodhpur boots, these boots are short and end just above the wearer’s ankle. More often than not, Paddocks are used for pleasure riding and since its conception was also used for everyday wear.

Cowboy Boots. This is not English of course but they are used as riding boots by western riders. They are either high heeled or have walking heels. The low heeled style is categorized as the roper. It is interesting to note that ropers are more like English riding boots –they end just above the wearer’s ankle but an inch higher than Paddocks. The usual length however is mid-calf to keep the western saddle from hurting the ankle and calf.

Tall cowboy boots on the other hand are seldom seen in riding since they are usually fashion items. These boots generally reaches the knees and are elaborately decorated.

If you have been looking for women’s boots from high fashion houses through searching online, you must have seen those being sold by Chinese manufacturers. Looking at these boots through pictures might convince you to buy them and your seller will convince you that they have been commissioned by Gucci, Givenchy and others to produce these boots. There are many online buyers who somehow believe these sellers and decide to sell the money to China. The question is, why buy from these “manufacturers” when they can buy from the store? We all know the answer to that question and it is because they are sold at real cheap prices.

When you finally see the boots you bought, you will be delighted that it is in the right box, the right serial number, and inside an original bag. The boots will look good from the outside and may even feel soft and comfortable. The only problem is, these are not made out of real leather and the buyer would only need to wait for a few months for these boots to show their true colors.

Almost 100% of these boots coming from China are knock offs. In fact all the things they sell (especially those online) are usually knock offs. They can copy iPods and other gadgets, how hard would it be to manufacture cowboy boots?

Little Boots was one of the Roman Emperors who ruled the Roman Empire after Julius Caesar. His name was Gaius the son of Germanicus, a rather talented and very well-loved general.

Before Germanicus’s death, he was the natural heir to the throne which was later on given to Little Boots. He was called Little Boots because he wore boots along with full military uniform around the camp even if he was still a little boy.

The Romans thought that Caligula would be as great as his father, they did not know however that Caligula (Little Boots) will be one of the maddest tyrants that the empire will ever have.

In fact, Caligula was crazier than Nero and Tiberius. Although Caligula was not a great man not only because he made his favorite horse a magistrate among other crazy deeds, his name says it all when it comes to the history of using cowboy boots even during the time of Augustus, the reigning Emperor before Caligula.

Before the World Wide Web everyone had to go to the mall or to shops to do their shopping. It was almost like a weekend routine or something that is done when folks get their paycheck. Thanks to the internet however, we are now able to shop while enjoying a quiet time at home.

Although this is considered quite heavenly for some, shopping online has its drawbacks. There are many sellers online that only get your money and do not have plans to ship you the items they are selling that is why you should only purchase the cowboy boots you want from trusted stores.

Look for stores that sell Dingo boots for example or go to Lucchese.com just to be sure you are in a trusted store. You should also make sure that the payment arrangement for your order goes through a secure line because if not, you might be endangering your identity and your credit card.

Being careful is a good thing because this will keep you safe from scammers.

Jot Down What You Want

What are the things you would like your new cowboy boots to have? Do you want it in leather, suede, or a mix of it? Do you want cowhide leather or do you want to go for something more exotic such as lizard skin, crocodile skin or elephant? Would you like to just wing it and shop around and see if there is something you like? These are the questions you should ask yourself before heading to the store.

Where are you going to buy them?

The next thing you should decide upon is knowing where you are going to buy your next cowboy boots. Do you want something from Justin? Lucchese? Dingo? Or another brand? You should determine the brand of the boots you want and then go from there. If you already know a store but want to explore other stores, you can do your research online and find an outlet near your home.

Shop Around

If you have not decided where to buy your boots, it is best to go to the mall and shop around. Who knows you might find the best cowboy boots for you if you do that. If you would like to plan ahead, and be ready with the money to spend for your cowboy boots, it would be best to take a look at photos in online cowboy boots shops so you have an idea on how much money you need to bring and whether you can afford a certain kind of boots or not.
