Designing Your Custom Cowboy Boots

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

Sometimes choosing from a set of cowboy boots can be quite a tedious task that is why many just opt for custom made boots. Although overwhelming because of the sheer requirement for details, and a bit overwhelming because of its price tags, many people still dream about having their own custom made boots.

But how do you actually start with your own design? Most people would just mix all the features they want in a cowboy boot but sometimes, the mix and match method can turn into a disaster. The first thing one should do is buy cowboy boot books and take a look at the photos featured in these books. One of the best books you can find is Jennifer June’s Cowboy Boots: The Art & Sole.

Pay attention to the toes and heels and do not just focus on the tops because this will help you determine what you really want. If you see a cowboy boot in the book that you absolutely love, you would have to print it so that you can show that to the bootmaker.

The next thing to do is to draw the boots you want and decide on what toes, what color, what leather and heel height your boots will have and do not forget the top height as well.

Sleep on it and then take a look at thee rough draft the next day so that you have fresh eyes for your masterpiece. Once you have decided that it is the boots you want, then it’s time to call the bootmaker.
