Going To Battle In Style

Published by Sigrid under Cowboy Boots

When someone says cowboy boots, what comes to mind for most people is usually horses and Texas and we can’t really blame them. Most people believe that cowboy boots originated in the west but did you know that the origin of cowboy boots dated much farther back than that? Back to before they were even called as such? The origin of cowboy boots actually dates back to the 5th century in the era of Attila the Hun –this is of course not yet . Attila, also known as the, Scourge of God, was a powerful ruler who was feared by many. He ruled the massive Hunnic empire. This empire was so vast that it extended from Germany to the Ural River  and from the Danube River (European Union’s longest river) to the Baltic Sea.

As Attila the Hun engaged constantly in battle to further expand his growing empire, he needed suitable attire; one that could protect him adequately. He had his breastplate, he had his helmet, and of course, he had a pair of boots. For Attila the Hun, boots were more than just a fashion statement -they were a necessity. Boots not only protected his feet from injury during battle, they also offered comfort during lengthy trail rides on horseback.

Cowboy boots have come a long way since its first came into use in the 5th century. Now, they are worn more than just for protection. They are also worn for style.
